About Me

In a Berliner café, pondering
Kamiel was born in 1979 in the Netherlands. He studied Philosophy in his native country, earning a diploma in 2003. After a personal tragedy involving the death by a traffic accident of his mother, he continued studying philosophy at the Humboldt University in Berlin, writing a German dissertation thesis on „Freedom and Responsibility in the Philosophy of Hans Jonas“. In the summer of 2008 he started traveling and during this journey he conceived the idea of "Charity Travel" to put the ideas of his thesis into practice and combine his passion for traveling with the incitement to simply do something good. He planned Charity Travel throughout 2009, establishing connections to small-scale charities and projects worldwide.

Throughout 2010 this Charity Travel continued, supporting about 50 different projects in 40 countries in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Just on his way, he met a wonderful woman, Yeon Choi, who decided to join him on this journey.

So they traveled to all these places together. In April 2011 they were married in South Korea, Yeon's home country.

After that the couple kept moving between Europe and South Korea, spent the summer of 2011 in Berlin before taking off to West Africa, then Istanbul, then Kenya, and currently South Korea again.

On January 4th, 2013, our daughter 미루 was born, and she's already an in exhaustible source of happiness and inspiration.

In July 2013 the couple moves to Europe, and in September-October lives in Berlin.
